환경부가 주최하고 한국환경산업기술원이 주관하는 ‘2022 환경기술개발 30주년 기념 행사’가 정관계 주요인사, 정부·지자체 공무원, 연구소기업·대학 등 연구자, 환경기술에 관심이 많은 국민 등이 참석한 가운데 8일 오후 13시부터 서울 한국과학기술회관에서 개최됐다.

이번 행사에서는 환경기술개발을 통해 도출한 30년의 성과를 되돌아보고, 향후 30년 녹색미래를 기대하는 의미해서 ‘환경기술개발 30년의 결실, 함께 만드는 녹색미래’라는 슬로건을 제시했다.

환경기술개발 30주년 기념식 1부 행사는 환경기술개발을 소개하는 영상과 역대 한국환경산업기술원장들의 축하 메시지를 담은 영상과 함께 힘차게 시작됐다.

30주년 행사의 시작을 알리는 최흥진 한국환경산업기술원장의 개회사와 한화진 환경부장관의 기념사를 시작으로 우수한 환경기술개발 성과로 환경기술 발전 및 보급에 기여한 연구자에 대한 시상이 이어졌다.

환경기술개발 30년 역사의 대표성과 창출에 크게 기여한 연구자 4명에게는 공로패를, 2022년, 올해 환경기술 개발과 보급을 위해 부단히 노력한 연구자 10명에게는 환경부장관 표창장을 환경부장관이 직접 친수했다.

이후 환경기술개발 30주년을 기념하기 위한 정관계 귀빈들의 축하가 이어졌다. 더불어민주당 국회의원인 전해철 환경노동위원회 위원장의 축하 영상과 행사장에 직접 참석한 이우일 과학기술자문회의 부의장과 김명자 서울국제포럼 회장(前 환경부장관)의 축사로 개회식은 마무리됐다.

환경기술개발 30주년 기념식에서는 그간의 환경기술개발 역사와 대표성과를 소재로 이야기를 구성한 샌드아트 영상과 함께 영상 속의 원로 연구자가 등장해 당시 연구개발 시절의 소회를 풀어냈다.

이어 환경기술개발 30년의 역사를 집대성한 30년사 책자를 미래 성장 가능성이 있는 신진 연구자에게 전달해주는 환경R&D 30년사 발간식이 진행됐다.

또한 환경기술개발 향후 30년 후에도 국민이 살기 좋은 환경을 만들기 위한 4대 미래상(탄소중립사회, 청정사회, 안전사회, 순환사회)과 함께 2050 환경기술 미래비전 선포식이 진행됐다.

2부 행사인 환경기술 국민공감포럼에서는행사의 슬로건인 “환경기술개발로 함께 만드는 녹색미래”를 주제로 환경부 장기복 녹색전환정책관, 최흥진 기술원장, 산업계·학계 연구자, 일반 국민 등이 참여했다.

본격 토크콘서트에 앞서 탐험가이자 방송인으로 활동하는 제임스 후퍼가 기후위기, 포스트 코로나 시대에 개선이 필요한 환경 문제와 환경시민으로의 역할이라는 주제 발제를 통해 국민과 함께 공감할 수 있는 토크콘서트의 포문을 열었다.

행사장 로비에는 30년 전체 연혁, 사업의 흐름, 성과를 한눈에 볼 수 있는 대형 포스터가 전시되고, 환경기술개발을 대표하는 기술의 일러스트가 스크린에 표출돼 행사 참석자들의 환경R&D 기술과 역사에 대해 쉽게 이해할 수 있었다.

아울러 착용기기 기반의 환경보건 건강영향 모니터링 기술과 AR/VR 기술을 활용한 화학사고 대응 시뮬레이션 체험을 할 수 있는 부스가 있어 행사 참가자들이 기술을 직접 체험할 수 있었다.

한국환경산업기술원 개요
